Electrical Safety: A Back to School Scenario

Bill’s Quality Electric, LLC shares electrical safety tips with a special focus on back to school time and how you can protect your kids from electrical hazards as you get them ready for school.

Mornings can be a real challenge when school is back in session, especially if you have more than one child to ready. Keeping an eye on how your kids are occupying themselves while you make breakfast, pack lunches, and gather their gear can be difficult with so much going on.

So, how can you protect your kids in the midst of such busyness?

Turn off burners on the stove if you have to leave the room to assist someone finding something they must bring to school. Cooking fires are easy to avoid when we stay in the kitchen or remove the power to the source if we must exit. And always have a kitchen-rated fire extinguisher handy just in case!

Keep those small appliances clean especially when you use them regularly for heating up coffee in the microwave and making morning toast for your kids before they head off to school.

Have tamper resistant receptacles installed in your home by a licensed electrician if you don’t have them installed already; this will protect your kids from electrical shock if they attempt to play with these outlets while you’re busy packing their lunch for the school day.

It can be so helpful when we know the best electrical safety practices we can instill into our morning routines as we ready our kids for school to help prevent electrical fires and electrical shock.

Make your morning routine safe and efficient while keeping your kids out of harms’ way. Stay Electrically Safe and Smart as a parent as you protect your kids during school prep time!
